#IBlewTheInterviewWhen via Hashtag, You’re It!: @McMannofthePeop The Top Picks

Let’s face it, job interviews are scary. A lot is riding on you presenting your very best self. You have to wear the right clothes. You have to say the right things. You have to shake hands with the right amount of pressure. But the most important thing you have to do is……Lie. Know I know some of you might be saying that that’s a little harsh. Ok fine, let’s call it “stretching the truth” or “alternate facts” or “fibbing” but we all know what it means. It’s starts even before you get to the interview when you’re writing out your resume. I believe the experts call it “Padding” but it’s really an exercise in creative writing. Oh, you were a mindless data entry goon for 9 months, that won’t do, let’s say you were director of accounting for almost 2 years. Now onto what to wear to the interview. You can’t go in there looking like a schlub so you put on your best business attire which you ONLY wear for interviews. Then the inane questions they ask you. “Where do you see yourself in 5 years?”, “What are your strengths?”, “Why do you want to work here?”, and my personal favorite “What are your weaknesses?”. Well sir, my biggest weakness is my eyes roll into the back of my head when ever I’m asked a stupid question! See, you can’t say something like that….you have to lie. Go into it like it’s an improv exercise! It’s a really un-fun game of “Yes And”. But don’t get sloppy here. You have a lot of balls of deception in the air now. One small miscalculation and one of those balls can come crashing down onto your face leaving you with a black eye and without a job. So many things can go wrong in the interview process. Did you forget to pop a breath mint? Did you forget your own lie and contradict what was on your resume? Did your tongue get in the way of everything that you were trying to say? Are you still a little drunk from last night? This is the question that I asked you guys in this week’s “Hashtag You’re It”. The hashtag was #IBlewTheInterviewWhen and we had almost 2000 responses and trended to the 8th place in the U.S. The game was even featured in a segment on “The Today Show” where Hoda and Al Roker talked about how they blew an interview in the past! So check out the top list below and don’t forget to join me every Tuesday at 11 am EDT for the next exciting episode of “Hashtag, You’re It”
