#AndThatsHowIGotThisScar via Hashtag, You’re It!: @McMannofthePeop The Top Picks

So to start off this week’s intro I’m going to do it backwards and start off with the results first. This week’s game was HUGE! It trended to #4 in Canada, for over 12 hours in the U.S. and reached the #2 spot, for over 8 hours in the U.K. and reached the #1 spot, and for over 6 hours World Wide! There were over 26,000 tweets with this game that I had to go thru

The only reason that I bring up these numbers was to prove how much of a universal thing this is. This week’s “Hashtag, You’re It” was #AndThatsHowIGotThisScar and with all the responses that I got we ALL have some. Human beings are a fragile bunch of apes running around this rock hurdling thru space. Our soft squishy skin gives way far to easily. A nail sticking out of some wood,a bent piece of metal, a unfortunate slip of a knife and we have a scar to prove it. Some larger than others, some hidden, some jagged, some right on our chins. That last one is my scar. When I was a kid I was going down a hill on my bike. I guess i was just going to fast and lost control of the bike and flipped over the handlebars and skidded my face along the concrete road I was on. 5 stitches in my chin. Thankfully it really isn’t that noticeable. It could have been a lot worse. But that mark will be with me forever. And as much as scars are a constant reminder of pain they stand for something much more than that I think. Since there are so many of us with scars I feel that it is a representation of how resilient we are as humans. Scars are constant proof that we can survive thru anything. A scar left behind from a mastectomy, a scar left behind from a horrible car accident you barely survived, a scar from a shrapnel IED on the side of the road in Afghanistan, a scar from a bullet you took in the line of fire. I see them not as a disfigurement, I see them as badges of honor. Humans are resilient. Humans will carry on. Yes, it may hurt. It may be painful. It may be a scar that’s not on the skin but more on the soul. But we keep going. We heal and we carry on. THAT is the nature and the proudest aspect of being human. Now if you’ll excuse me I have to return this soap box that I’ve been standing on for the last few minutes. So take that time to check out the top list below and don’t forget to join me every Tuesday at 11 am EDT for the next exciting episode of “Hashtag, You’re It”
