#WhyWaldoWasHiding via Hashtag, You’re It!: @McMannofthePeop The Top Picks

You know, for someone that doesn’t really want to be found he does spend a lot of time in very crowded places. The world was first introduced to Waldo in 1987 and we have been trying to pick out that red and white striped nerd ever since. Originally illustrated by Martin Handford the popular children book series asks children to find our be-speckled main character in huge crowds of people, oddly enough all of them using that same color scheme. Not only does Waldo travel all over the world he also travels thru time itself! It’s never really revealed how he manages That little trick! Now hidden in the very first published book, which is entitled “Where’s Wally?” there is a small reference…to…………wait………Wally? Huh, that can’t be correct. It’s Waldo right? Let me look it up. *google searches* Oh look at that. In the U.K. he’s known as Wally. Why would he need an alias? Well anyway, in the first book…..No Really, why the different persona? Let me do more checking. *googles even more* HEY!!! He has alias all over the world! Besides the U.K. and the U.S. he’s Charlie in France. Holger in Denmark. Jura in Croatia. Walter in Germany. Ubaldo in Italy. Uolli in Russia. Gezgin Veli in Turkey. My God, what has this guy been up to? Is his backpack just full of forged passports that he has to use in each of these countries? Did I just stumble onto the fact that the beloved Waldo from my childhood is actually a international criminal who must assume a new identity every border he crosses!?!?!?! My mind is now a whirlwind of theories about what he’s up to. Sure, he looks all innocent but what dark and sinister things does he get up to? What would lead a man to have no home and just travel the world never letting anyone know who he really is? What is he running from? Or I guess the more important question is what is he Hiding From! That brings us to this week’s “Hashtag, You’re It” which was #WhyWaldoWasHiding. It briefly trended to the #5 spot in the U.S. and had almost 2000 responses. So I guess I’m not the only one wondering about the back story of the wanderlust loving character Waldo. We’ve all wanted to maybe take a little time to get away from our lives but the lengths that this guy went to are extreme to say the least. So check out the top list below and don’t forget to join me every Tuesday at 10 am EDT for the next exciting episode of “Hashtag, You’re It”
