On December 27th, 2016 we lost one of the funniest and most bad ass women in Hollywood. Known for her sarcastic wit, her irreverent spirit, and constant flipping of the bird. Carrie Fisher will always and forever be missed. Starting off as just another child of a famous celebrity she rose to her own fame after taking on the role of Princess Leia Organa in the “Star Wars” movies. She was a vocal advocate for mental illness with her struggles with bipolar disorder and drug addiction. But even with the battles with her inner demons she was still beloved by all those around her. Not only appearing in blockbuster movies like “Star Wars”, “The Blues Brothers”, “Hannah And Her Sister”, “When Harry Met Sally”‘ she was also one of Hollywood’s most sought after script doctors working on such films as “Hook”, “Sister Act”, and “The Wedding Singer”. Just a month before her death she had just finished principle photography for “Star Wars Episode VII: The Last Jedi”. This got me to thinking about the next “Star Wars” movie. How are they going to complete the story without Leia? Han is already dead. Luke is already dead. ……….oh wait, *SPOILER WARNING* Sorry, I should have put that earlier. Oh Well. They needed Leia to anchor the story arch and to give us nerds closure. So how could they do it? CGI? They already put a deceased Peter Cushing into “Rogue One” and a much younger Princess Leia in there as well. Could they really just make a computer generated Image of Leia and finish off her story that way? Or just write her character completely off of the “Star Wars” series. THAT one seemed kind of cold and callous to me. Carrie’s sudden departure left us all saddened and I’m sure the writers for “Star Wars IX” scrambling for what they could do. But as always I’m going to ask you guys on Twitter what You think. That’s why this week’s “Hashtag, You’re It” was #HowStarWarsShouldEnd. The tag trended to the #8 spot in the U.S. and had over 1000 responses.
