#EvenWeirderChoppedBaskets via Hashtag, You’re It!: @BrandNewMcMann The Top Picks

Since It’s first premier way back in 2009, Food Network’s hit cooking competition show “Chopped” has had over 500 episodes.  That’s a hell of a lot of mystery baskets containing not normally paired together ingredients.  I did the math, so you wouldn’t have to, and that’s over 6000 ingredients that the producers of that show have had to come up with.  Things like black garlic, fruit cereal, chicken feet, marmite, reindeer pate, pickled pig lips, cactus pears, caul fat, rocky mountain oysters, and squid in pasta have all made the rounds as mystery ingredients.  P.S., caul fat is the stringy membrane that surrounds the internal organs of animals like cows and sheep and is also referred to as fat netting.  I know, I know my mouth is watering too.  But things like that appear in the mystery baskets on a regular basis.  So what would REALLY throw those chefs for a loop?  That’s what I asked Twitter this week with the hashtag #EvenWeirderChoppedBaskets.  So check out the top list below and don’t forget to join me every Tuesday at 11 am EDT for the next exciting episode of “Hashtag, You’re It”
