On March 19th, 2000 “The Simpsons” aired an episode called “Bart To The Future”. In the episode an Indian shaman shows Bart his future. He is now 40 years old and an out of work struggling musician. After being evicted from his latest apartment he decides to crash with now 38 year old Lisa in her house. Her house just happens to be The White House. Lisa is now the President Of The United States. It is not that happy of a reunion as President Simpson is dealing with the United States being in a dire financial crisis. While meeting with her chief advisors Lisa says “As You Know, We’ve Inherited Quite A Budget Crunch From President Trump”. This was 16 years before the Presidency of Donald Trump. (I still wretch saying that) This episode was on of the biggest examples of the urban myth that “The Simpsons” can predict the future. Besides the 45th President, “The Simpsons” have also predicted FaceTime, the ending of “Game Of Thrones”, who would win the Noble Prize in Economics, the discovery of the Higgs Boson “God Particle”, the Ebola outbreak in the U.S., Greece’s economic collapse, the tiger attack on Siegfried & Roy, the Disney acquisition of 20th Century Fox, and numerous Super Bowl and Olympic winners. Not bad for a middle class family with only 8 fingers huh. But going back to the Presidency of Lisa Simpson, she had to run a campaign and win to get to the White House. So that got me to thinking about what her campaign slogan was. This lead me to the week’s “Hashtag, You’re It” which was #SimpsonsPresidentialSlogans. “The Buck Stops Here”, “I Like Ike”, “It’s Morning Again In America”, “Change We Can Believe In” all of these winning presidential slogans but how would the Simpsons hadnle these slogans. So check out the top list below and don’t forget to join me every Tuesday at 11 am EDT for the next exciting episode of “Hashtag, You’re It”. And don’t worry about the 45th President, because after him we get President Lisa!
