#IfICouldCloneMyself via Hashtag, You’re It!: @BrandNewMcMann The Top Picks

Here’s a fun fact for you: Dolly the cloned sheep born in 1996, was actually named after the singer Dolly Parton because the cells that they used to clone the sheep came from the mammary glands of another sheep. Oh those molecular biologist have such a rapier sharp wit on them don’t they. The term clone was actually coined by Herbert J. Webber and is derived from the Greek word klōn, which means twig. He meant it as a reference to when you can take a twig from a tree and grow a whole new tree from it. The topic on cloning has been argued for over a century now about the moral and physiological ramifications of human cloning. Those aside, most people have wondered what it would be like to have a twin. Since most of us are not born with a genetic doppelgänger from utero, the only other way would be to have a clone of yourself made. So what would you do with that clone? Would you only create one? Would you make them do all the chores? Would you create an unholy legion of minions all bent on world domination? Would you make your clone dress up in fun little matching outfits? That’s what I asked Twitter this week with the hashtag #IfICouldCloneMyself. So check out the top list below and don’t forget to join me every Tuesday at 11 am EDT for the next exciting episode of “Hashtag, You’re It”
