#SecretsInSantasAutobiography via Hashtag, You’re It!: @BrandNewMcMann The Top Picks

Let’s face it, Santa Claus has had a long and colorful career. Starting off as Saint Nicholas in fourth century Greece, where he got the moniker “Patron Saint Of Prostitutes”. Then to 16th century Europe as Father Christmas, where he and two other spirits scared the hell out of a money lender in an effort to change his ways. To 1773 and the first time that the name Santa Claus appeared in print which was done by Washington Irving as an Americanized version of the Dutch Sinterklaas and a slam against Dutch culture in New York as he described him as a fat sailor smoking a pipe. Up to 1821 and the now famous poem “Twas The Night Before Christmas” where he gets caught breaking and entering into a house and the author says he looks like Jello when he laughs. To 1947 and Santa getting a job at Macy’s before being sent to a nut house in upstate New York. That’s a lot of things happening in the life of a right jolly old elf. And those are just the things that we know about! Think about the things that he has kept out of public knowledge. Buuuuuut just like every celebrity these days what if he too came out with an autobiography. What juicy bits of gossip or locker room might come out about the big man himself from the North Pole? That’s what I asked Twitter for this week with the hashtag #SecretsInSantasAutobiography. If even one of this secrets in this top list is true then Santa has a LOT to answer for.
